Philadelphia's Donovan McNabb was on target in his first game of the preseason.
It was over when
Donovan McNabb took the field for the Eagles. Making his first start since tearing his ACL in Week 11 last season, McNabb immediately completed his first three passes and led the Eagles to a field goal and touchdown in his first two possessions. Quickly down 10-0, Carolina was never able to recover and failed to score a touchdown until the fourth quarter.
Game balls
McNabb was the obvious choice for the Eagles but he got some help from tight end Matt Schobel. Schobel hauled in a beautiful pass from McNabb and rumbled all the way inside the five before Carolina cornerback Chris Gamble could catch him. Schobel finished with 71 yards on three receptions. Very few of the Panthers played particularly well, so the game ball goes to punter Jason Baker who averaged 51.9 yards on his eight punts.
Key stat
35:07: The Eagles time of possession for the game. They controlled the clock from the outset with a sharp passing attack and smothering defense.
Noteworthy
Rookie quarterback Kevin Kolb looked impressive in his second game, completing 11-of-16 passes for 78 yards.
