The greatest trade in Raiders history, according to former Raiders coach Hue Jackson -- giving up first- and second-round picks for Carson Palmer -- has resulted in a 1-4 start. Epic fail?

That's why Palmer isn't long-term. This move was done before Reggie McKenzie and Dennis Allen got there. Palmer isn't playing bad, but the team is.
He's been almost passable by the standards of recent Raiders QBs: 19 INTs, 19 TDs since the trade. Problem is, Oakland is no closer to winning now than it was when it traded for him.
This Raiders have holes because McKenzie took over a team in salary-cap hell -- and no draft picks. The good thing is, Oakland could end up with a high first-round pick to draft a QB.
Are you kidding me? This deal already cost them in the draft. Not only do they still need a QB, but neither Darrius Heyward-Bey nor Denarius Moore are any closer to being franchise-level receivers.
It's going to take the new regime time, and that process will be moving on from Palmer. He re-did his contract to help the team gain cap space, but he's due $13 million in base salary in 2013.
Mike Brown looks like the executive of the year. He got a franchise QB in the second round last year, a corner with the 17th pick this year, and a second-rounder next year. Goodnight.
Sad part is, Palmer was brought in to be a savior, which for the Raiders is almost Biblical. The season's not over, but I've seen nothing to make me think things will get better.
