Smith reportedly to have more tests; Falcons decline comment

Atlanta Falcons coach Mike Smith might have further medical tests after experiencing more chest pain this week, sources told The Sports Xchange on Wednesday, according to ProFootballTalk.com.

"The Falcons will have no comment on the report," team spokesman Reggie Roberts told PFT.

The 52-year-old Smith was admitted to a Charlotte hospital Sunday night for chest pain after Atlanta's 31-23 victory over Carolina. He was released Monday and returned to the team. Both Smith and the Falcons said that he had not suffered a heart attack.

Smith is expected to be on the sideline Thursday night when the Falcons host the Jacksonville Jaguars on NFL Network (8:20 p.m. ET). The testing would start as early as Friday, according to the report.

Atlanta is 8-5 and trying to secure an NFC wild-card spot, with an outside chance at the NFC South title (they trail the New Orleans Saints by two games).
