The Chiefs' play-calling: Coach Todd Haley has taken over the play-calling from former offensive coordinator Chan Gailey. Starting QB Matt Cassel was injured last week the first time he dropped back to pass. QB Brodie Croyle is expected to start, but this could be a big opportunity for Tyler Thigpen who filled in nicely for Croyle and Damon Huard last year for the Chiefs. But Thigpen has struggled in the preseason thus far, and needs a good game. St. Louis should provide that.

Who wins the Rams' No. 3 quarterback spot: Veteran QB Kyle Boller has shown enough in the absence of Marc Bulger to entrench himself as the team's backup. Boller will likely start on Thursday, but Brock Berlin and Keith Null will be given a final audition for the No. 3 role.
