Vikings WR Rondale Moore suffered season-ending knee injury in preseason opener

Rondale Moore's comeback season ended after just one preseason play.

The receiver suffered a season-ending knee injury in Minnesota's preseason opener, the Vikings announced Tuesday.

It's a massive blow to Moore, who hasn't played a regular-season game since Week 18 of the 2023 season, and the Vikings' beleaguered wire receiver room.

Drafted by Arizona in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft, Moore moved to Atlanta last season but missed the entire 2024 campaign due to a significant right knee injury. After spending significant time recovering and rehabbing, Moore signed with the Vikings in 2025 with a plan to fill a returner role and find a way onto the field as a receiver with big-play potential.

Those hopes were dashed Saturday when Moore fielded a punt on his first snap of the preseason and suffered a knee injury while being tackled along the sideline. Moore was carted off the field after a prolonged delay and the seriousness of the scene inspired the worst fears for Moore's prognosis.

Tuesday's announcement justified those fears. Minnesota must now prepare to play the first three games of the season without Jordan Addison (suspension) and Moore, leaving them with superstar Justin Jefferson, who's been dealing with a hamstring injury, Jalen Nailor and whoever wins the preseason roster battle among Lucky Jackson, Tai Felton and Thayer Thomas, among others.

Moore, meanwhile, returns to the unfortunately familiar world of recovery and rehab.
