The first gaffe came earlier in the fourth quarter, when Wilson aimed a screen pass at running back Marshawn Lynch, only to see Packers reserve linebacker Jayrone Elliott pick off the lob. Elliott was then stripped of the ball, but officials awarded possession to Green Bay after searching the scrum.
Coach Pete Carroll argued that decision, telling The Times that Seattle tackle Justin Britt came up with the pigskin. NBC's cameras also showed the blocker strolling away from the pile with the ball in his hands.
"We had the football," Carroll said. "So I don't really understand that."
It wasn't just mistakes on offense, as Seattle's defense was guilty of sloppy play, with Bennett himself flagged for a trio of offsides penalties, leaving him to acknowledge: "I just (expletive) up."
