The New York Jets are making a change at quarterback in Week 12.
Tyrod Taylor will get the start over Justin Fields for Sunday's game in Baltimore, NFL Network Insiders Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero reported on Monday.
The decision comes after head coach Aaron Glenn said he'll be "evaluating everything" following New York's Thursday night loss to Patriots last week.
Fields, who signed a two-year deal worth $40 million this offseason, is benched after producing a 2-7 record in nine starts in 2025. His demotion comes with little surprise given the quarterback's struggles through the air this season; he was benched for Taylor midway through a Week 7 defeat against the Panthers.
A knee injury to Taylor might have delayed Field's benching after Week 7. The Jets were winless and Glenn was non-committal with Fields at that point, but once Taylor was ruled out for Week 8, Fields proceeded to earn New York its first win of the season in a wild 39-38 game in Cincinnati. Following the Jets' bye week, Fields got another start and earned another win against the Browns at home.
Fields completed 15 of 26 passes for 116 yards and a touchdown in last week's 27-14 loss in New England, a performance that resurfaced the stagnant issues on offense with him under center. He has compiled 1,259 passing yards this season and a 7-1 touchdown-to-interception ratio for an offense that ranks last in the NFL with 139.9 yards per game.
Taylor started for an injured Fields in a Week 3 loss to the Buccaneers, producing two TDs through the air -- something Fields managed to do only once in his nine starts this season. The 36-year-old veteran has thrown for 379 yards with three TDs and three INTs in three total appearances this season (one start).
Taylor will have a tough task on Sunday against a surging Ravens team that has played great defense as of late. Star wideout Garrett Wilson, who's on injured reserve with a knee injury, won't be available.
The Jets (2-8) turn to Taylor amid another lost season, Glenn's first as head coach in New York.
