Injury roundup: Rashad Jennings has MCL sprain

It appears that Rashad Jennings will miss some time for the New York Giants.

The running back told reporters on Monday that he has a sprained MCL, according to NFL Media's Kim Jones. Jennings said he "definitely" doesn't need surgery and the MRI on his knee indicated "it'll heal up."

Jennings was seen on the sideline midway through the third quarter of Sunday's 30-20 win with ice wrapped around his left leg. Jennings finished his day with 10 carries for 55 yards and two receptions for 17 yards.

Andre Williams took the majority of reps after Jennings' injury and finished with 20 carries for 65 yards and a touchdown.

The timing of Jennings' injury isn't ideal for the Giants, who have road matchups against the Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys in the next twoweeks. The Giants have their bye after those division matchups.

We might not see Jennings return to the backfield until Week 9.

Here are some other injuries we are following on Monday:

  1. Jets inside linebacker David Harris has a sprained AC joint, but after X-rays came back negative and an MRI didn't reveal any structural damage, New York is breathing a sigh of relief. Harris will miss minimal time, NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reports.
  1. Arizona Cardinals coach Bruce Arians said Monday defensive end Calais Campbellhas an MCL strain and could miss anywhere from one to three weeks. Teammate and linebacker Matt Shaughnessy (knee) will miss several weeks after being placed on injured reserve-designated to return.

Arians also had an update on the status of quarterback Carson Palmer, who he said would have to go through a full practice in order to play Sunday.

  1. Titans safety Bernard Pollard is out for the rest of the season after suffering a ruptured Achilles tendon, coach Ken Whisenhunt confirmed Monday. Quarterback Jake Locker has a bruised thumb with lots of swelling, but it appears there's no structural damage, Whisenhunt said.
  1. Raiders rookie quarterback Derek Carr returned to practice Monday after spraining his MCL and suffering a high ankle sprain in Week 4.
  1. The Chargers have struggled to keep a center in the starting lineup, and it gets no easier for San Diego after announcing center Doug Legurskywill be placed on injured reserve with a knee injury.
  1. Denver Broncos coach John Fox confirmed that running back Montee Ball suffered a groin injury in Sunday's win over the Cardinals, but wouldn't elaborate on how much time he might miss. Rapoport reported earlier Monday that the Broncosare bracing for a major injury to Ball.
  1. Rapoport said on Monday's Around The NFL that he would be "surprised" if Calvin Johnson played in Week 6. Lions running back Reggie Bush said that he's day-to-day after injuring his ankle against the Bills, while fellow rusher Joique Bell is confident that he will be on the field against the Minnesota Vikings.
  1. St. Louis Rams running back Zac Stacy has a strained calf, but he should be ready to go against the San Francisco 49ers on Monday, Jeff Fisher said.
