Derek Carr suffers high ankle sprain, MCL sprain

A miserable afternoon for the Oakland Raiders was exacerbated when quarterback Derek Carr was sidelined with a high ankle sprain and MCL sprain in the third quarter.

Carr's knee was twisted at the end of a scramble. Despite a heavy limp, he stayed in for one more play before it became obvious that he couldn't put any weight on the leg.

He was promptly sent to the locker room for X-rays and did not return.

The rookie authored an impressive opening touchdown drive vs. the Miami Dolphins, but failed to move the offense over the next two quarters.

Matt McGloin took over for Carr, only to see a bad snap returned for a 50-yard touchdown on his second play.
