Former offensive lineman Pete Case dies at 67

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Ronald Lee "Pete" Case, a guard who played for the Philadelphia Eagles and New York Giants from 1962-70, has died. He was 67.

The Giants said that Case died in Georgia on Thursday. Daughter Lee Anne Rice said he had been ill for a long time.

A first-round draft choice of the Eagles in 1962, Case was traded to the Giants after three seasons. He played 79 games in his six seasons in New York.

After retiring from the NFL, Case operated a restaurant in Atlanta called the Brave Falcon. He later retired to Lake Lanier, Ga.

Case was born in Columbus, Ohio, and moved to Decatur, Ga., in 1954. He attended Decatur High School and received a scholarship at Georgia, where he served as captain in 1961.

Survivors include daughters Lee Anne Rice and Cathy Colquitt, son David Case, brother Clifford L. "Bud" Case, niece Andrea Case, nephew Patrick Case, and five grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held Sunday at 4 p.m. at Ingram Funeral Home Chapel in Cumming, Ga.
