Dennis Dixon signed by Arizona Cardinals

With Carson Palmer still in a holding pattern, waiting for some clarity on his injured shoulder, and Drew Stanton going through concussion protocol, the Cardinals are in the market for some quarterback depth.

With some free space on the practice squad, they've signed former Steelers, Ravens, Bills and Eagles quarterback Dennis Dixon. The 29-year-old Oregon product spent time with Arizona coach Bruce Arians in Pittsburgh and knows how to run his system if need be.

Obviously, the expectation is that either Palmer or Stanton will be able to take snaps against the Redskinson Sunday. Rookie Logan Thomas is also awaiting another opporutnity.

If something goes desperately wrong, though, Arians wants a friendly face in the building.
