While the Ravens conduct their own fan and alumni surveys to help them decide whether or not to sign quarterback Colin Kaepernick, a growing list of players inside the locker room have made clear that they have no problem with it.
"I mean, I welcome him with open arms you know? I definitely trust general manager] Ozzie Newsome and [coach John] Harbaugh in doing their jobs to the best of their ability," [Brandon Williams said Wednesday on Good Morning Football. "And if he's the type of player they think we need and they think they want in this building then we'll have him. If they can accept him than we can too. With open arms. It'll be cool to see that big 'fro walking around."
Add Williams' name to a list of other prominent Ravens who have voiced their support over the past week. ESPN.com quoted locker room nerve center Terrell Suggs as well as veteran corner Lardarius Webb and reminded us that tight end Benjamin Watson has praised Kaepernick's protest efforts to combat social injustices across the country in the past.
While the ESPN piece did mention that certain players either "declined" to speak about Kaepernick or were "terse" in their replies, a locker room tends to sway the way its leaders do.
At the end of the day, nothing will happen in Baltimore unless the Ravens decide they want an upgrade over Ryan Mallett or Joe Flacco's back injury becomes more serious. As NFL Network's Michael Silver reported earlier in the week, Kaepernick is eager to join the team under any circumstances. With players lining up in Kaepernick's corner, it is now up to the Ravens to determine what those circumstances will be.
