Dave Fipp, Special Teams Coordinator
Detroit Lions special teams coordinator Dave Fipp has used his platform to honor service members, veterans and their families, drawing inspiration from the military service of his father, Bernard "Bernie" Fipp. Through his involvement with the U.S. Navy Blue Angels, Fipp has helped spotlight the dedication of military aviators while paying tribute to his father's service during the Vietnam War. Fipp partnered with the Blue Angels for the opportunity to fly in an F/A-18 Super Hornet, fulfilling a lifelong dream while recognizing his father's military legacy and the history of the Skyhawk A-4 aircraft. The experience provided Fipp with a firsthand understanding of the preparation, precision and skill required of military pilots, allowing him to share a deeper appreciation for their service. Through his experience with the Blue Angels, Fipp also shared his father's story and highlighted the contributions of military personnel, helping connect NFL fans with the experiences of those who serve. Video clips documenting his flight generated more than 66,000 views on YouTube, extending the reach of his message and bringing additional visibility to the military community. Fipp's commitment to honoring his father's legacy reflects his broader appreciation for the sacrifices made by service members and their families. By sharing his personal connection to military service and highlighting the work of the Blue Angels, he continues to use his NFL platform to recognize the men and women who serve our country.
