Darrell Baker Jr., Cornerback
Darrell Baker Jr., cornerback for the Tennessee Titans, exemplifies the core values of the NFL's Salute to Service initiative.
Growing up in a military household, Baker witnessed firsthand the sacrifices required of those who serve. His parents, Darrell Baker Sr. and Johnetta Dixon, are both retired U.S. Army veterans who completed deployments in Baghdad, Iraq, and Kuwait, among other overseas assignments. During his childhood, there were long stretches when one or both parents were away as his father served as a contractor, and his mother worked as a cook in the Army.
The family eventually settled in Georgia, where his parents were stationed at Fort Benning and Fort Gordon. The resilience, discipline, and perseverance instilled in Baker through his upbringing became the foundation for his success on and off the field. Inspired by his parents' service, Baker remains committed to giving back to military families like his own.
In a heartfelt tribute during last year's Salute to Service game, Baker honored his parents by naming them the 12th Titan, a symbolic recognition of their dedication and sacrifice.
