Injuries: Shane Vereen placed on injured reserve

Shane Vereen's injury-plagued second season with the Giants has come to an end.

The running back was placed on injured reserve with a triceps injury, the team announced, which he re-injured this past Sunday after missing nine games with a torn triceps he suffered in late September.

Vereen finished the season with 33 rushing attempts and 11 receptions for 252 yards from scrimmage in five games.

Giants cornerback Janoris Jenkins is battling a back injury that knocked him out of Sunday's win over the Lions and told reporters, "I'm feeling good. I'm focused on getting better every day. We'll see what happens." He was limited in Tuesday's practice.

The Giants also placed backup quarterback Ryan Nassib (elbow) on IR, resulting in Josh Johnson being elevated to the No. 2 spot behind Eli Manning. The Giants promoted linebacker Ishaq Williams from the practice squad and signed running back George Winn as the corresponding moves to fill their roster.

Here are some other injuries we are tracking on Tuesday:

  1. Falcons wide receiver Julio Jones(toe sprain) practiced on Tuesday. The star wideout has sat out the last two games due to injury.
  1. Lions cornerback Darius Slay suffered a hamstring injury in Sunday's loss to the Giants. He will have an MRI, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported, and is a long-shot to play Monday night against the Cowboys in Week 16.
  1. Browns coach Hue Jackson said Terrelle Pryor (finger) looked good in practice, and he expects the wideout to play Saturday against the Chargers.

Left tackle Joe Thomas (knee), tight end Randall Telfer (ankle) and defensive lineman Stephen Paea (unknown) are all not participating in Browns practice.

  1. Packers coach Mike McCarthy told reporters that outside linebacker Nick Perry (hand) is "improving. Hope he can do some things tomorrow at practice." Perry has missed the past two games.
  1. Buccaneers receiver Mike Evans did not practice, per the Tampa Bay Times. Evans was seen working on the side, however, so it might be precautionary for the stud wideout.
  1. Colts wideout Donte Moncrief (hamstring) returned to practice, but in a limited fashion.
  1. Chargers running back Melvin Gordon (hip/knee) isn't practicing in drills open to the media Tuesday, while wideout Tyrell Williams (shoulder), who sat out part of Sunday's game against the Raiders, is a participant.
  1. Seahawks coach Pete Carroll told reporters that punter Jon Ryan is still in concussion protocol, but he doesn't expect the team to have to sign a new punter.

Carroll also said that he's hoping running back C.J. Prosise (shoulder) will be back for the playoffs based off of his health updates, however defensive end Damontre Moore (foot) will be placed on injured reserve.

  1. While Rams quarterback Jared Goff has not yet cleared all stages of the concussion protocol, interim head coach John Fassel said the rookie was able to participate in full in Tuesday's practice, according to the team.
