The Cowboys will bring in the three most highly regarded passers in the 2016 NFL Draft -- Carson Wentz, Jared Goff and Paxton Lynch -- for a pre-draft visit this week. The club will also host Christian Hackenberg, Connor Cook and Jacoby Brissett at its facility, according to ESPN.
Cowboys coach Jason Garrett has acknowledged the team needs to find a young quarterback to groom behind veteran Tony Romo, though club owner Jerry Jones said the club won't spend the No. 4 overall pick of the draft on one. Wentz, Goff and Lynch are expected to be first-round picks.
In addition to the visits, Dallas has had its share of workouts with the top quarterbacks.
Lynch worked out in Orlando for a Cowboys contingent that included Garrett and quarterbacks coach Wade Wilson. The Cowboys have held workouts with Hackenberg and Mississippi State's Dak Prescott. They scheduled workouts with Cook as well as Wentz and Goff, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. The Cowboys also spent extensive time with Wentz when they coached him at the Reese's Senior Bowl in January.
Regardless of Jones' declaration that Dallas won't take a quarterback with the No. 4 pick, the club's interest in adding one at some point is clearly high -- the Cowboys are spending at least 20 percent of their allotted 30 player visits on QBs.
If they do intend to take a QB at some point after Round 1, Prescott is among 5 players at the position that NFL Media senior analyst Gil Brandt sees as good fits.
