With Robert Griffin III's career crashing in our nation's capitol, former Pro Bowl running back Herschel Walker has a special request for Redskins owner Daniel Snyder.
"If RGIII's got nothing to do, and Mr. Snyder doesn't mind, send him down to Dallas," Walker said this week, per JP Finlay of CSN Mid-Atlantic.
Walker, a former Cowboys star, believes Griffin -- active for just one game all season -- would serve as a boost over quarterbacks Brandon Weeden and Matt Cassel until Dallas gets Tony Romo back on the roster.
It's not about to happen, but Cowboys owner Jerry Jones admitted last season that he's a "fan of RGIII," a fascination that began with the passer's nationally televised win over Dallas on Thanksgiving in 2012.
"He put on a show and had a game that just floored me," Jones said. "And they won, and they won in large part because of his play at quarterback. I thought, 'My goodness, and we're going to have to be playing this guy for years and years.' And so he's got it."
Griffin's rookie success feels like 4,000 years ago, a run that came prior to major knee surgery inside a Kyle Shanahan-led scheme that used the most of the singal-caller's freaky mobility. RGIII's decline is both puzzling and depressing for a franchise that thought their time under center had finally come.
Today's Griffin is an erratic pocket passer prone to shaky footwork and head-scratching decisions. Walker knows about landscape-altering trades -- and Washington is bound to part with RGIII -- but the 'Skins won't be doing business with the 'Boys unless Ol' Jerry makes an offer they can't refuse.
