Cowboys make it official: Place Lance Dunbar on IR

It's officially official: Lance Dunbar's season is over.

The Dallas Cowboys announced they placed the running back on the Injured Reserve list on Saturday, ending his season.

Every game, all season

Dunbar, 25, suffered a torn ACL and MCL in the Cowboys' Week 4 loss to the New Orleans Saints, NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported, per a source informed of his MRI results.

Moving Dunbar was a transactional matter after the Cowboys suffered their most recent in a season-long string of injuries.

So far in 2015 the Cowboys suffered injuries to: quarterback Tony Romo (on IR Boomerang), No. 1 receiver Dez Bryant (foot surgery), No. 1 cornerback Orlando Scandrick (IR) and rookie pass rusher Randy Gregory (ankle), among others.

Luckily tackling dynamo Sean Lee is returning from a concussion suffered in Week 4.

With Dunbar out, expect to see more of Joseph Randle on passing downs. Christine Michael should see his role increase as well after being acquired prior to the start of the season. Darren McFadden is still on the team.

The Cowboys signed receiver Vince Mayle (Washington State) from the practice squad to fill Dunbar's roster spot.
