Jerry: I didn't say Weeden throws better than Aikman

Jerry Jones heaped heavy praise on Brandon Weeden last week, but the Cowboys owner isn't mistaking Tony Romo's fill-in for former team great Troy Aikman.

After calling Weeden "a thing of beauty throwing the football," Jones saw those comments flipped around on FOX's Sunday pregame show when former Cowboys coach Jimmy Johnson asked Aikman point-blank: "Jerry Jones said this week that Brandon Weeden throws the prettiest ball he's ever seen. How did that make you feel?"

"Well, not too good," said the Hall of Fame passer.

Jones clarified himself during his weekly radio show on Tuesday, saying, per Jon Machota of The Dallas Morning News: "Because I said Weeden had a big beautiful stroke, I got accused of saying, 'Well, he can throw a better ball than Aikman.' Now that's BS. We all know that. We all know that."

Heading into Week 4, Jones has bigger problems to worry about.

While Weeden made our weekly Heroes List for posting a 22-of-26 day against the Falcons, the Dallas defense imploded to give up 39 points and cut the Cowboys' record to 2-1.

Bottom line: With Romo out until Week 11, Jones needs Brandon Weeden to look a lot more like Troy Aikman than Brandon Weeden.
