Jeremiah: Top three wide receivers are safest picks in draft

Every selection in the 2015 NFL Draft carries some risk, but some prospects have a higher talent floor in the league than others.

If a general manager with an early pick is hoping to avoid a bust with his first-round selection, NFL Media analyst Daniel Jeremiah says they should look closely at taking one of the top wide receivers in the draft -- Kevin White, Amari Cooper, and DeVante Parker -- and not look back after selecting them.

"I've said it all along -- if you throw DeVante Parker in there as well, all three of these guys (at wide receiver) are worthy of top 10 picks," Jeremiah said on NFL Network's "Path to the Draft." "They are three of the safest players in the draft, which is odd to say about wide receivers who are historically boom/bust in the top 10. These three are studs who will be ready to go right away."

White and Cooper, in various order, have long held the top two spots in the wide receiver rankings for most analysts. But Jeremiah has White, Cooper, and Parker ranked in his top 10, and that certainly speaks to how safe a pick each player is, even if receivers are usually taken a little lower in the draft.

The Oakland Raiders, who have the No. 4 overall pick, have long been mentioned as the likely spot for the first wide receiver off the board. Jeremiah said he thinks the Raiders might factor how the top three players fit into their offense, even if the player they select isn't atop the positional rankings.

"I've said Amari Cooper is a better fit for the Raiders because they are terrible on third down and need somebody who can uncover quickly and be a very good route runner," Jeremiah said. "That's the strength of Amari Cooper. Kevin White is the top player at the position on my board because of his size and the physicality he brings."

It certainly puts the Raiders in a good spot in this year's draft as they look to upgrade the team with about as safe a pick as they could ask for.
