Report: Randy Gregory to meet with the Baltimore Ravens

Nebraska pass rusher Randy Gregory, generally considered one of the top 10 players available in the draft, has a scheduled visit with the Baltimore Ravens, who don't pick until 26th overall.

The Baltimore Sun reported the news.

While Gregory (6-foot-5, 238 pounds) seemingly would be a great fit as an outside linebacker in the Ravens' 3-4 defense, there seemingly is zero chance Baltimore would be able to draft him unless they make a big move in the first round. In addition, while he would be a great fit, the Ravens would seem to have far bigger positional needs, such as wide receiver, running back, defensive tackle and cornerback.

Gregory is No. 6 on NFL Media analyst Daniel Jeremiah's list of the top 50 prospects in the draft, and each of the six NFL Media analysts who have done mock drafts have Gregory going in the top seven picks; five have him going in the top five.

The Ravens have Elvis Dumervil, Terrell Suggs and Courtney Upshaw as their top three outside 'backers. Adding someone as young and athletic as Gregory -- a guy with a high ceiling as a pass rusher -- certainly has to be tempting to Ravens decision-makers. But the cost to get into the top 10 would be steep, especially considering they can remain where they are and get a guy at a position of need who presumably could help right away.
