LSU's Jalen Collins, one of the top cornerback prospects in the 2015 NFL Draft, underwent a foot operation Thursday, but should be ready to participate in minicamp in May, NFL Media senior analyst Gil Brandt reported Saturday.

Dr. Bob Anderson performed the operation in North Carolina.

Collins had a very good showing at the NFL Scouting Combine last month, but won't be able to work out at LSU's pro day on March 27, per Brandt, as he recovers from the surgery.

A potential first-round pick, Collins is NFL Media draft analyst Mike Mayock's No. 2 corner in the draft. Collins ranks 29th on NFL Media analyst Daniel Jeremiah's list of the top 50 prospects in this year's draft, and an NFC director of personnel told NFL Media's Lance Zierlein that Collins might be the best cornerback in the 2015 class.

Teams are no doubt intrigued by Collins' rare blend of height, weight and speed, and given that he's expected to be ready for minicamp, the news of his surgery might not be a serious threat to his draft stock. However, this isn't welcome news for any prospect this time of the year, and Collins can count on NFL teams asking him plenty of questions about the procedure in the lead-up to the draft.
