Ranking every FBS team at midseason: Nos. 81-90

Print

81. Purdue (3-4)

Buzz: The offense has made some strides of late; now it's the defense's turn to get better.

82. Illinois (3-4)

Buzz: It doesn't appear as if Tim Beckman will be Illinois' coach that much longer.

83. Western Kentucky (2-3)

Buzz: Interesting stat: Coach Bobby Petrino leaves and the Hilltoppers' passing attempts per game rise from 34 to 52 (and with the same quarterback).

84. Temple (4-1)

Buzz: The record is impressive. But how good are the Owls? They've beaten Vandy, UConn, Tulsa, and mediocre FCS foe Delaware State.

85. Louisiana Tech (3-3)

Buzz: The Bulldogs lost to a 3-3 FCS team (Northwestern State), yet routed Louisiana-Lafayette and UTEP by a combined 103-23.

86. San Diego State (3-3)

Buzz: While the Aztecs have beaten no one with a pulse and also lost to a mediocre Fresno State team, the thought here is that they can get to a bowl.

87. Central Michigan (4-3)

Buzz: CMU beat Purdue and Northern Illinois. But the Chippewas were hammered by Syracuse and also lost to Kansas.

88. Louisiana-Lafayette (3-3)

Buzz: ULL has had three consecutive nine-win seasons. If the Ragin' Cajuns can beat Arkansas State next Tuesday, they have a great shot at increasing that streak to four.

89. Fresno State (3-4)

Buzz: In each of the Bulldogs' first four games, the winning team scored at least 52 points. Unfortunately for the Bulldogs, they were on the losing end of the first three.

90. Louisiana-Monroe (3-3)

Buzz: The Warhawks already have lost to two SEC teams (Kentucky and LSU, by a combined 79-14) and still have a game remaining against Texas A&M.
