Ranking every FBS team at midseason: Nos. 41-50

41. Pittsburgh (4-3)

Buzz: RB James Conner and WR Tyler Boyd are studs. But QB Chad Voytik is doing some on-the-job learning, and it has handcuffed the offense.

42. Oregon State (4-2)

Buzz: The Beavers have a nice record, but who is inhabiting senior QB Sean Mannion's body? He was second in the nation with 4,662 passing yards (358.6 yards per game) and third with 37 TD passes last season. He has thrown seven TD passes and five interceptions this season and is averaging just 262.7 yards per game.

» Sources Tell Us: NFL exec critical of Mannion

43. Miami (4-3)

Buzz: The defense remains a big problem, which bodes ill for Al Golden. At the same time, true freshman QB Brad Kaaya looks to have the talent to be a big-timer.

44. Northwestern (3-3)

Buzz: The Wildcats own a win over Wisconsin. But they also lost by eight at home to Northern Illinois.

45. Maryland (4-2)

Buzz: Too bad the Terps left the ACC for the Big Ten. They'd have a shot at being one of the top four teams in the ACC this season.

46. UCF (3-2)

Buzz: Even without QB Blake Bortles, UCF has a legit shot at the AAC title. Truthfully, though, that just shows how weak the AAC is at the top -- and in the middle, and at the bottom.

47. Kentucky (5-1)

Buzz: Mark Stoops has done a remarkable job in less than two seasons. That UK is one win from bowl eligibility at the halfway point probably surprises even UK fans.

48. BYU (4-2)

Buzz: With QB Taysom Hill, the Cougars were a threat to finish unbeaten. Without him, you wonder if they can get to eight wins.

49. Missouri (4-2)

Buzz: Georgia whipped the Tigers last week. If Mizzou doesn't win at Florida this week, it has zero hope of repeating as SEC East champs.

50. Boston College (4-2)

Buzz: The Eagles bludgeoned USC with their running game. But BC also suffered home losses to Colorado State and Pitt and has a weak passing attacking.
