Ranking every FBS team at midseason: Nos. 11-20

11. TCU (4-1)

Buzz: Hiring offensive assistants Sonny Cumbie (from Texas Tech) and Doug Meachem (from Houston) was a shrewd move by coach Gary Patterson. They have revved up the offense, big time, and the Horned Frogs are in the Big 12 title hunt.

12. Georgia (5-1)

Buzz: The suspension of TB Todd Gurley eventually is going to catch up to the Bulldogs. You can't lose your best offensive player and continue to roll over foes.

13. Ohio State (4-1)

Buzz: Redshirt freshman QB J.T. Barrett has been impressive, for sure. But let's not get carried away: The Buckeyes have beaten Navy, Maryland, Cincinnati and Kent State, and they also lost to Virginia Tech.

14. Kansas State (4-1)

Buzz: The Wildcats are so flying far under the radar, they're basically walking. Saturday's game with Oklahoma gives them a big chance to make some national noise

15. Arizona State (4-1)

Buzz: The Sun Devils may have the toughest remaining schedule of any team in the nation, with games against Stanford, Washington, Utah, Notre Dame, Oregon State, Washington State, and Arizona. The positive aspect? If they somehow run the table, they might end up with the nation's strongest resume.

16. Oklahoma State (5-1)

Buzz: The Cowboys haven't beaten a team with a winning record, and their best performance may have come in the season-opening loss to Florida State. But they have ample opportunities for marquee wins in the second half of the season.

17. Arizona (5-1)

Buzz: If not for a missed 36-yard field goal against USC, the Wildcats would be unbeaten and ranked in the top five or six. Oh, yeah: They also would be in the national title hunt.

18. Nebraska (5-1)

Buzz: TB Ameer Abdullah remains overshadowed in his own league, much less the nation, but he is a big-timer whom Huskers coaches are going to ride hard the rest of the way.

19. East Carolina (5-1)

Buzz: If the Pirates finish 11-1, they're the likely choice to get the non-Power Five conference's "automatic bid" into one of the so-called playoff bowls. The offense will do its job -- will the defense?

20. Utah (6-1)

Buzz: After back-to-back seasons with no bowls (that followed a string of nine consecutive postseason appearances), the Utes already are bowl-eligible. They're also squarely in the hunt for the Pac-12 South title.
