Andre Brown, Erin Henderson suspended to start year

Veteran free agents Andre Brown and Erin Henderson won't be finding work anytime soon.

NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reports, via a league source, the former New York Giants running back and ex-Minnesota Vikings linebacker have been suspended for the start of the season.

Brown is banned eight games for violating the NFL's policy on performance-enhancing drugs. Henderson will serve a four-game suspension for running afoul of the league's policy on substances of abuse.

Brown, 27, had a four-game suspension overturned on appeal back in 2012. He was waived by the Texansthree weeks ago, after falling behind Jonathan Grimes and Alfred Blue on the depth chart.

Henderson spent a month in rehab this offseason after a pair of DUI arrests in the past year. At 28 years old, Henderson has drawn no known interest since his release from the Vikings back in early February.

It might be next year before we see either player in an NFL uniform again.
