You might remember a time when Tony Romo was regularly criticized for spending too much of his free time playing golf. It was stupid.
The window for links-related criticism has apparently closed. The Dallas Cowboys quarterback recently revealed he hasn't golfed since before his first back operation and doesn't plan on playing any time soon.
"It's been awhile," Romo said, according to The Dallas Morning News. "Almost a year and a half."
Romo had a cyst removed from his back last April, then underwent surgery to repair a herniated lumbar disk in December. He was limited during offseason workouts but expects to be full-go for training camp.
"You've got to get yourself healthy then figure out where you're at and go from there for everything," Romo said. "It's not just golf. It's a way you live life.
"I don't think about it as (giving up) golf. It's just life. You want to give yourself the best chance to succeed on the football field."
