The Dallas Cowboys' starting offense lined up for 11 snaps Monday night against the Oakland Raiders. They gained one first down, had two three and outs, and Tony Romo was running for his life.
"Not real good," Garrett said. "We didn't play with great rhythm."
In Dallas, the concern about the team's offensive line has been present all training camp. The same goes for Dallas' lack of wide receiver depth. Both problems showed up against the Raiders. Asked what Cowboys fans might be thinking at home after the 3-0 win over the Raiders, the team's owner was sanguine.
"I have seen worse TV," Jerry Jones said, via the Dallas Morning News. (After all, he appeared on the new "Dallas." Hey now!)
"But candidly, we had a point of emphasis, which were mistakes in the kicking game," Jones continued. "Kicking game mistakes are the worst kind you can make because they can totally change the field or the possession, and we did that a lot tonight. But that will give us something to work on, and give these officials something to work on when we've got them paid out here working with us at camp they can earn their chow."
It's early in the preseason. There is no reason to panic. But we often have seen offenses that struggle badly in August carry those troubles into September. The Cowboys need to get healthy and get their lineup settled over the next month.
