Jim Harbaugh mum on San Francisco 49ers' starting QB

If you're looking to Jim Harbaugh for answers on the San Francisco 49ers' murky quarterback situation, you're going to be disappointed.

Despite a report stating that Colin Kaepernick will start Sunday against the New Orleans Saints, followed by safety Donte Whitner sharing that same information, Harbaugh declined to divulge any information about his game plan.

"It's just not something we think is an advantage for us to talk about," the 49ers coach told reporters Friday. "You have your opinions on it. If it's unorthodox, so be it. You can call me names if you want or make a fool of me, but that's the way we're going to go about it."

SI.com's Jim Trotter reported this week that Harbaugh told normal starting quarterback Alex Smith, "I'm going with Kaepernick. Alex, I'm sorry." Harbaugh categorized that report as "not factual."

Harbaugh said Smith, who missed Monday night's rout of the Chicago Bears, went through his final concussion test Friday and will be cleared Saturday if he doesn't show any symptoms. Harbaugh said Smith hasn't had symptoms since Tuesday. He's officially listed as questionable after being limited in three consecutive practices.

Harbaugh's amusing poker face aside, expect to see Kaepernick behind center in Week 12. We just might have to wait until Sunday to know for sure.
