Redskins reverse ban on fans bringing signs to FedEx Field

The Washington Redskins are doing an about-face on preventing fans from bringing any signs to FedEx Field.

The team issued a news release about 2½ hours before Sunday's home game against the Denver Broncos to say it had "revised" its stadium sign policy.

"We've disappointed our fans so far this season, and I'm as disappointed as they are," Redskins owner Dan Snyder said in the release. "I understand that some fans want to express their feelings with signs and they should do so, as long as they stay within the boundaries of good taste and don't block the view of other fans."

Said Redskins chief operating officer David Donovan: "We have no intention of trying to control our fans' varied ways of expressing their views on the Redskins organization and the team's performance."

Last month, the Redskins banned spectators from carrying any signs or banners into their stadium, citing fan security and comfort. That policy had coincided with an increase of signs that were critical of Snyder and front-office chief Vinny Cerrato.
