ACC rankings: Florida State stands above rest of conference

Not surprisingly, Florida State has locked up the Atlantic Division title. And not surprisingly, the Coastal Division race seems likely to go down to the last weekend. Georgia Tech is in the clubhouse with a 6-2 mark, while Duke is at 4-2 and has two eminently winnable games left. And Duke owns the tiebreaker.

1. Florida State (10-0, 7-0 in ACC)

Up next: vs. Boston College, Saturday, Nov. 22
The skinny: The Seminoles have won 26 in a row. Perhaps the College Football Playoff selection committee needs to pay more attention to that number rather than some of the metrics it is using.

2. Georgia Tech (9-2, 6-2)

Up next: at Georgia, Saturday, Nov. 29
The skinny: Last week's win over Clemson was the first time this season the Yellow Jackets didn't score a rushing TD. And yet they still won by 22.

3. Clemson (7-3, 6-2)

Up next: vs. Georgia State, Saturday, Nov. 22
The skinny: Last week's loss to Georgia Tech shows how much true freshman QB Deshaun Watson means to this offense. But even without Watson, the Tigers should be able to hammer this week's foe from Georgia.

4. Louisville (7-3, 5-3)

Up next: at Notre Dame, Saturday, Nov. 22
The skinny: How successful has Bobby Petrino's first season been? Check back in two weeks, as the Cardinals get Notre Dame this week and Kentucky next week.

5. Miami (6-4, 3-3)

Up next: at Virginia, Saturday, Nov. 22
The skinny: For all the talk about the strides Miami has made this season, consider that this is the ninth season in a row the Hurricanes have lost at least four games.

6. Duke (8-3, 4-3)

Up next: vs. Wake Forest, Saturday, Nov. 29
The skinny: After surprising losses to Virginia Tech and North Carolina, the Blue Devils went from the driver's seat to out of contention in the Coastal Division race. They finish up the regular season with Wake Forest.

7. Boston College (6-4, 3-3)

Up next: at Florida State, Saturday, Nov. 22
The skinny: BC is headed to a bowl again, the first time the Eagles will have gone to back-to-back bowls since 2009-10.

8. Virginia Tech (5-5, 2-4)

Up next: at Wake Forest, Saturday, Nov. 22
The skinny: A win against the woeful Demon Deacons means the Hokies will be bowl-bound again. Still, this has been a disappointing season.

9. North Carolina (6-5, 4-3)

Up next: vs. North Carolina State, Saturday, Nov. 29
The skinny: The Tar Heels are eligible for a bowl game after a blowout win over Duke.

10. Pittsburgh (4-6, 2-4)

Up next: vs. Syracuse, Saturday, Nov. 22
The skinny: The Panthers have gained at least 500 yards in each of their past three games -- and lost all three.

11. Virginia (4-6, 2-4)

Up next: at Miami, Saturday, Nov. 22
The skinny: That ticking sound you hear? We're not 100 percent positive, but we're pretty sure it's the sound of Mike London's career at Virginia winding down.

12. North Carolina State (6-5, 2-5)

Up next: at North Carolina, Saturday, Nov. 22
The skinny: The Wolfpack very easily could finish 2-6 in ACC play. And also go to a bowl.

13. Syracuse (3-7, 1-5)

Up next: at Pitt, Saturday, Nov. 22
The skinny: You need a competent, not necessarily great, quarterback to win in college football these days. Syracuse doesn't have a competent quarterback.

14. Wake Forest (2-8, 0-6)

Up next: vs. Virginia Tech, Saturday, Nov. 22
The skinny: This stat blows us away every week -- Wake Forest is last in the nation in rushing with a total of 341 yards. Melvin Gordon had a combined 359 yards in the second and third quarters last week against Nebraska.
