Tom Brady started prep for 49ers after Thanksgiving

Following the New England Patriots' 42-14 beatdown of the Houston Texans on "Monday Night Football", defensive tackle Vince Wilfork made a rather outrageous claim: He said he was going home to start studying film on the San Francisco 49ers that night.

Tom Bradythinks Wilfork is a slacker.

Asked Wednesday about his preparation for the 49ers, Brady said he spent two days after the Patriots' Thanksgiving rout of the New York Jets to get ready for San Francisco. Brady knew he would have a short week to prepare for the 49ers, and he wanted to get a head start. Not to swoon or anything, but this is how you win NFL MVP at age 35.

"This defense is one of the best that I've ever seen, so this is going to be a totally different challenge," Brady told WEEI-FM, via SportsRadioInterviews.com, early in the week after beating the Texans. "We're going to have to be at our best this week."

It doesn't get much better than 49ers-Patriots at this stage of the season. At their best, we believe these are the two best teams in the NFL.

Put it this way: Brady would not have been preparing for the Jacksonville Jaguars that far in advance.
