Kevin Kolb to undergo MRI on 'pretty sore' rib area

Kevin Kolb is back in injury limbo for the Arizona Cardinals.

Jeremiah: Big Blue statement

Daniel Jeremiah says the Giants' thrashing of the 49ers was, hands-down, the most impressive win of the 2012 season. **More ...**

One day after Kolb was hurt during the Cardinals' 19-16 loss to the Buffalo Bills, coach Ken Whisenhunt announced Monday that X-rays on the quarterback's ribs and side came back negative, according to Kent Somers of the Arizona Republic. Kolb -- whom Whisenhunt said was "pretty sore" -- will undergo an MRI on Monday to determine the extent of the damage.

Kolb was injured with just over two minutes left in regulation when he tried to fall forward and two Bills players landed on him. He remained on the field for several minutes as medical personnel attended to him, then he gingerly walked off the field after a cart was waved away.

Whisenhunt said the injury was the result of Kolb falling on the ball as he was being tackled.

John Skelton replaced Kolb and nearly led the Cardinals to a win. It was Kolb who took the job from Skelton when Skelton injured his ankle in Week 1. We'll see if Skelton gets to repay the favor in the event Kolb is forced to miss time.
