Dallas Cowboys tight end Jason Witten said there was no doubt in his mind that Tony Romo would play Monday night as the quarterback deals with a fractured rib and punctured lung.
"He looks good," Witten told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram after Romo wore a helmet and threw light passes during Saturday's practice.
The Dallas Cowboys quarterback participated in drills with his teammates in anticipation of Monday's home opener against the Washington Redskins.
On Friday, a CT scan of Romo's punctured lung revealed that the injury has healed, moving him one step closer to following up on his memorable performance in a Week 2 win over the 49ers, in which he also suffered a fractured rib.
Wideout Dez Bryant, dealing with a thigh contusion, was also seen in uniform on the field, but he did the same Friday without practicing.
Coach Jason Garrett was asked Saturday if Garrett and Bryant will play: "We'll see. We'll see," he told The Dallas Morning News. "We're hopeful in the next couple of days, prior to the game, they can show us something that makes us feel they can play effectively in the ball game."
"I don't think we can say anything 100 percent right now," Romo told the newspaper on Friday. "It's just a matter of the day and keep getting better. I'm obviously planning mentally going out there, so we'll see."
