Nix: Unhappy Whitner 'probably won't' be back with Bills

BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Buffalo Bills general manager Buddy Nix has all but ruled out the likelihood of the team re-signing safety Donte Whitner.

Nix told Buffalo's WEDG-Radio that he doesn't believe Whitner wants to return to the team, and that means "he probably won't."

Whitner was Buffalo's 2006 first-round draft pick and completed his five-year contract last season. Whitner was unhappy with the Bills final contract offer in December, and said he expected to test free agency.

Nix added the team is more interested in re-signing veteran cornerback Drayton Florence.

All contract talks are on hold pending the resolution of the NFL's labor dispute with its players.
