Vornkahl was a three-year starter for the Buffaloes, culminating with a second-team All-Lone Star Conference selection as a senior in 2018. He did not play his first two years on campus, then stepped into the starting lineup for all games in 2016. Vornkahl was an honorable mention all-conference selection that season, as well as in 2017 when he started 10 games. The former all-district selection at Bellville High School in Texas started all 11 games at right tackle in his final season at WTAMU to close a strong career.

Overview
Right tackle prospect with average footwork and athleticism but below-average size and functional core strength. Vornkahl is unable to dominate the man across from him in pass protection or as a drive blocker which does not bode well for his NFL chances. The effort and play demeanor are both good, but unless he gets bigger and stronger, the league is a long-shot.
Strengths
  • Three-year starter
  • Comes out of stance with adequate quickness
  • Adequate footwork to slide around the edge and secure on play-side
  • Keeps driving and pushing a centered block
  • Fights hard to sustain and finish aggressively
  • Motor is what you want
  • Relatively smooth in setting to the edge
  • Posture in protection set-up is well-balanced
Weaknesses
  • Will need a redshirt year to get bigger and stronger
  • Needs better angles up to second level targets
  • Lack core strength for desired contact balance
  • Loses base and feet when fighting against power
  • Unable to take control at point of attack
  • A step slow in shooting his punch
  • Leans into pass sets to create artificial anchor
  • Edge power can pull him out of his set
