Overview
Sims has the size, length, and build of a potential NFL prospect, but his tape just isn't up to par. Sims failed to find consistent playing time and production in Alabama's crowded receiving corps over the years which speaks to the issues he has with separation, contested catches, and route-running. Sims has physical traits that should get him into camp, but it's unlikely he sticks around for the long haul.
Strengths
  • Appealing combination of height and length. Can use his size/length to go up and over cornerbacks near goal line. Noteworthy athletic ability expected from Alabama wide receivers. Shows body control to turn and adjust to poor throw. Good footwork to drop toes inbounds near the sideline. Decent short area wiggle for run-after-catch throws underneath
Weaknesses
  • Below average long speed. Doesn't get any movement or lean from cornerbacks with his routes. Goes through the motions with routes and needs better acceleration out of turns. Allows physical nickel corners to slow him with contact. Struggles to create separation and doesn't play to his size. Unable to finish contested catches at a desirable rate
