The skinny: These are two of the four teams in the hunt for the Big Ten West Division title. Keep an eye on Minnesota TB David Cobb (above), who is sixth nationally (and third in the Big Ten) in rushing at 141.4 yards per game. He has to at least get close to his average if the Golden Gophers are going to win; if Minnesota must pass to win, it has zero chance. Iowa OT Brandon Scherff (above) might be the best lineman in the nation, and he and his linemates need to carve out some holes because Iowa is another team that doesn't want to be forced to throw. Still, the Hawkeyes are far better-equipped to pass than the Gophers. Also at stake: Floyd of Rosedale.

Part of the reason for the improvement is Heisman candidate and stud linebacker (four defensive TDs) Shaq Thompson (above) putting together back-to-back career games at tailback.

Virginia DE Eli Harold (above) headlines a strong front seven that should cause problems for FSU's underachieving offensive line. UVa loves to blitz, which means FSU QB Jameis Winston (above) is going to have guys in his face most of the game. Winston has not played as consistently well as he did last season, but he has had moments of brilliance, especially in the second halves of games against Notre Dame and Louisville. True freshman TB Dalvin Cook gives FSU a big-play threat in the backfield.

The skinny: Yes, the Aggies might have snapped a three-game losing streak against Louisiana-Monroe, but that doesn't mean Texas A&M doesn't still have some holes that Auburn can expose, especially defensive holes. One Aggies defender in particular, defensive end Myles Garrett (above), is certainly holding up his end (11 sacks as a freshman). He'll face off with Auburn OT Shon Coleman (above) in what will be one of several key individual matchups. Auburn's defense isn't exactly playing well either, and freshman QB Kyle Allen would establish himself as an SEC up-and-comer if he plays well and earns the road win. Key players to watch: Texas A&M OT Cedric Ogbuehi, Auburn WR Sammie Coates, and Auburn C Reese Dismukes.

The Ducks might be primed for a letdown game following their big win over Stanford. Heisman favorite Marcus Mariota (above) will have his hands full dealing with a fearsome pass rush and stingy defense. If the Utes have any chance of winning, they'll need better play out of quarterback Travis Wilson (above), who has been uneven yet manages to remain the only signal-caller in the FBS, among qualifiers, who hasn't thrown an interception.

QB Bryce Petty (above), is hoping to lead the Bears to their first-ever win in Norman and keep the team's Big 12 title hopes alive.

However, Notre Dame will be without some key pieces on defense, which is something all-purpose Sun Devils stud D.J. Foster (above) will no doubt be looking to exploit. On a day stacked with great games, this might end up being the best one of the bunch.

The skinny: This annual clash is always loaded with potential NFL talent. Although the Tigers have incurred two losses and are out of College Football Playoff contention, they will be a major challenge for the Crimson Tide. Freshman RB Leonard Fournette (above) is playing his best football of the season, as is Alabama inside 'backer Reggie Ragland (above), a hard-hitting run stopper whose collisions with Fournette should be explosive. The LSU passing attack isn't as consistent as it needs to be, so it won't be a surprise if Alabama stacks the box defensively. LSU offensive tackle La'el Collins, Alabama safety Landon Collins and Tide receiver Amari Cooper are among the top NFL prospects worth watching.

Gary Patterson's Horned Frogs will have a tougher time slowing down big-play receiver Tyler Lockett (above), but are up to the task.

The skinny: This is the game of the year in the Big Ten, with the winner almost certainly taking home the East Division title. Joey Bosa (above) heads a strong Buckeyes front four that will need to slow Spartans TB Jeremy Langford and pressure QB Connor Cook (above). Cook and WR Tony Lippett (nine TD receptions) are the most dangerous pass-catch combo in the league. DE Shilique Calhoun and CB Trae Waynes are the standouts on a physical Michigan State defense. Buckeyes QB J.T. Barrett has thrown a league-high 23 TD passes, but he struggled against the physical defenses of Virginia Tech (a loss) and Penn State (an overtime win).
