Vikings pick Jackson over Frerotte to start vs. Falcons

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. -- The Minnesota Vikings will start Tarvaris Jackson at quarterback Sunday against Atlanta.

Jackson's second chance

Offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell made the announcement Thursday. Jackson was benched after the Vikings started the season 0-2, but has played very well in place of the injured Gus Frerotte over the last two games.

Frerotte injured his lower back in the first half against the Lions two weeks ago. Jackson has completed 70 percent of his passes for 268 yards and five touchdowns in six quarters to help the Vikings to wins over the Lions and Cardinals.

The Vikings need a victory or a Chicago loss in the final two weeks to wrap up their first division title since 2000.
