Following what amounted to a seven-month break, Brandon Graham is clocking back in.
Graham is coming out of a retirement to rejoin the Philadelphia Eagles, NFL Network Insiders Ian Rapoport, Mike Garafolo and Tom Pelissero reported on Tuesday. The move is expected to made official on Wednesday.
A two-time Super Bowl winner and the longest-tenured member in the history of the franchise, Graham, 37, will aim to aid a depth-deprived Eagles defensive line. Rapoport and Garafolo reported on Sunday that Graham had spoken with the team about returning.
Philadelphia (5-2) has registered just 11 sacks through seven games, which is tied for 26th in the league.
Graham retired in March, concluding a 15-season NFL career that included three Super Bowl appearances, two Super Bowl victories (the only two in Eagles history) and a 2020 Pro Bowl selection.
In those 15 years, he produced 76.5 sacks (third in club chronicle), 487 tackles, 126 for a loss and 153 QB hits in a Philadelphia-record 206 regular-season games played.
When he retired, Graham's exit wasn't the only one along the Philadelphia defensive front. The team also lost Josh Sweat and Milton Williams to free agency.
The 2025 Eagles have seen edge Nolan Smith placed on injured reserve, had standout defensive tackle Jalen Carter miss some time with a heel injury and pass rusher Azeez Ojulari is currently dealing with a knee issue.
So, Philly could use some help.
Just how much help Graham can provide remains to be seen after seven months on the proverbial "couch." Last year, he tore his triceps, but was able to return in time for a Super Bowl win over the Kansas City Chiefs.
Through 11 regular-season games, Graham had 20 tackles and 3.5 sacks before saying goodbye after a Super Bowl triumph.
Clearly, he wasn't ready hang up his cleats. How much of a boost he can provide for the Philly pass rush will be glimpsed in the coming weeks as the club's all-time leader in games played plans to add a few more to the ledger.
