Titans place starting C Amano on injured reserve

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- The Tennessee Titans have placed starting center Eugene Amano on injured reserve because of a neck injury.

The Titans made the move Tuesday when players returned from a weekend off. Amano moved from left guard to center this season, and he had started all 13 games for an offense ranked 28th in total yards and 14th in rushing offense.

The move likely means Fernando Velasco will replace Amano the rest of the season. Velasco started at Dallas at left guard but moved over to center in that game when Amano got hurt.

The Titans also signed defensive tackle Malcolm Sheppard from the Texans' practice squad. Sheppard played for Houston in one game this season. He had 9.5 sacks in 38 starts in college at Arkansas.
