Texans LB Cushing says he had right knee scoped

Houston Texans linebacker Brian Cushing confirmed via his Twitter account that he underwent surgery on his right knee Wednesday.

Cushing, who was the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year in 2009, wrote, "Appreciate all the support and love, had to get my patella cleaned up and knee scoped. Was about two years over due, time for rehab!"

Cushing made 76 tackles and also had 1.5 sacks and a forced fumble in 12 games for the Texans. Cushing served a four-game suspension to start the season for violating the NFL's substance-abuse policy.
