"He's doing good," Rochelle Knighton told The Florida Times-Union) on Monday. "We're not really sure (the extent of the injury). He did have surgery yesterday, (but) we won't know a little more until we go see the doctor today. He's in good spirits."

Rochelle Knighton said the injury was in her son's actual eye.

The Jaguarsreleased a statement Sunday night, saying they were gathering information about the incident.

"We are in the process of gathering information about what happened and are not able to further comment at this time," the Jaguars' statement read. "Our concern and our focus is on Terrance and his health and recovery."

Said Rochelle Knighton: "I have faith, and I didn't lose my son. So that's really all that matters."

WTEV-TV reported Monday that Knighton said his recovery will be longer than he first anticipated.

Knighton has started in all but three games for the Jaguars since joining the team in 2009. He recorded 29 tackles in 13 starts last season.
