Tennessee Titans safety Michael Griffin signs waiver

Tennessee Titans safety Michael Griffin, who was hit with a franchise tag earlier this offseason, signed a waiver on Monday so that he could participate in the Titans' offseason workout program, the Tennessean reported.

The waiver would protect Griffin so that he could work out with the team, according to NFL Network insider Jason La Canfora.

The 19th-overall pick in the 2007 NFL Draft, Griffin has started at safety the past four seasons and made the Pro Bowl after recording four interceptions and 108 tackles during the 2010 season.

Griffin, 27, has 17 interceptions and seven forced fumbles in his career.
