Tavon Wilson becomes first draft pick to sign with Patriots

The New England Patriots signed their first draft pick Tuesday, locking up second-rounder Tavon Wilson.

The team announced the deal in a release; terms of the contract were not disclosed.

The Patriots surprised some when they took Wilson, a defensive back from Illinois, with the 48th-overall selection.

Wilson started for three years at Illinois. He earned honorable mention on the All-Big Ten team last season after he finished the year with a career-high 81 tackles.
