Super Bowl XLV's CMT Crossroads set with The Pretenders, Hill

CMT Crossroads will go live when Crossroads heads to Super Bowl XLV and North Texas with a very special episode featuring rock royalty, The Pretenders, and five-time Grammy winner Faith Hill. CMT Crossroads: The Pretenders and Faith Hill Live from the Pepsi Super Bowl Fan Jam premieres live on CMT on Saturday, Feb. 5 at 10 p.m. ET, as part of the NFL Pepsi Super Bowl Fan Jam festivities. It is the third performance in the concert series and will air from Verizon Theatre in Grand Prairie, Texas.

Since forming the Pretenders over three decades ago, front woman Chrissie Hynde has proven to be a one-of-a-kind tough-minded, outspoken and an utterly uncompromising artist -- yet also capable of moments of heart-wrenching tenderness. The band's first single, a cover of The Kinks song "Stop Your Sobbing," was released in January of 1979 and gained critical attention. This was followed by "Kid," and then by "Brass in Pocket, "which hit No. 1 in the UK and reached No. 14 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100. Other Pretenders hits include "Back on the Chain Gang" and "I'll Stand by You." Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2005, the band has had many personnel changes over the years, but original members Hynde and drummer Martin Chambers remain. Additional band members are guitarist James Walbourne, pedal steel player Eric Heywood and bassist Nick Wilkinson. Hynde has recorded just nine studio albums since the original Pretenders lineup cranked out their barrier-smashing debut in 1980.

Faith Hill has established herself as one of the music industry's top vocalists, with a voice that is as powerful as it is recognizable. This very special live performance will mark Hill's long awaited debut on CMT Crossroads. Her career has been highlighted by the sale of over 30 million records worldwide, during which time she has celebrated thirteen No. 1 singles and 20 No. 1 videos. In fact, 1999's Breathe, 2002's CRY and 2005's Fireflies all debuted consecutively at No. 1 on Billboard's Top Pop Album Chart and Country Chart, making her the only female artist ever to accomplish this feat. Hill is a five-time Grammy Award winner, who has also won 3 Country Music Association Awards, 12 Academy of Country Music Awards, four American Music Awards, and four People's Choice Awards. In 2000, Hill sang the National Anthem at Super Bowl XXXIV and in 2009, when Hill performed "America The Beautiful" at Super Bowl XLIII, she became the only country artist to ever perform both songs at the Super Bowl. For the past three years Faith has also been NBC's voice for Sunday Night Football, and she's performed at every major awards show, including multiple appearances at The Academy Awards and The Grammy Awards.

The Pretenders and Faith Hill join an elite group of performers who have taped CMT Crossroads, which pairs country music stars with popular artists from other genres -- pop, rock, R&B -- to play together, swap stories, and share their common love of music. Previous episodes of Crossroads have included Bon Jovi and Sugarland; John Mayer and Keith Urban; Kelly Clarkson and Reba McEntire; Joss Stone and LeAnn Rimes; Robert Plant and Alison Krauss; Def Leppard and Taylor Swift; and Train and Martina McBride.

Tickets to CMT Crossroads are sold out, but tickets still remain for the first two concerts in the series-the NFL Pepsi Super Bowl Fan Jam on Thursday, Feb. 3 featuring Kid Rock, Duran Duran and Jason Der?lo. The NFL Pepsi Musica Super Bowl Fiesta will be held on Friday, Feb. 4 at 7:30 p.m. and featured performers are Jenni Rivera, Chino Y Nacho and Dulce Maria. Tickets are available at www.Ticketmaster.com. Tickets are $45 and $60 for Thursday night and $45 for Friday night's concert.
