The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have 11 days until Commissioner Roger Goodell announces they are on the clock to commence the 2015 NFL Draft.
Bucs general manager Jason Licht said Monday if his team was forced to make a decision today, they know whom they'd choose.
"Going back all the way to the (NFL Scouting Combine), we said we had a leader in the clubhouse," he said. "We still do. If we had to pick today, we'd feel very comfortable making the pick."
Most of the discussions surrounding the Bucs' choice have narrowed in on quarterbacks Jameis Winston and Marcus Mariota, with most media analysts pegging Winston as the presumptive leader.
Coach Lovie Smith said the organization is in lockstep in terms of evaluating the quarterbacks.
"Yes we are. We're in total agreement," Smith said when questioned about the signal-callers in the draft, per NFL Media's Albert Breer.
Still the Bucs plan on playing it close to the vest and exploring all their options until April 30 arrives.
Licht characterized the decision as one that will alter the future of the franchise.
"Personally, I think it's probably the biggest draft in the history of the organization," he said. "We've got a real chance to really put us over the top and get us to a level that we think we're going to be at this year -- which is competing for a championship. It's a great draft to have the No. 1 pick."
The No. 1 predictor of competing for an NFL championship is based on quarterback play, and Tampa is in prime position to nab one of the draft's top passers.
