Percy Harvin had altercations with Tate, Baldwin

Following Percy Harvin's trade to the New York Jets, some not-so-flattering issues about the receiver's time in Seattle began to leak.

One of the big storylines was of a physical altercation Harvin had with then-teammate Golden Tate before the Super Bowl.

NFL Media's Michael Robinson, who was on the Seahawks during their championship run last season, said Sunday morning on NFL GameDay First he helped break up the fight.

"Something did go on at the Super Bowl that a lot of fans don't know about," Robinson said. "There was an altercation in the locker room between Percy Harvin and Golden Tate. It saddens me because I was a leader on that team and to know that this information got out -- usually Pete Carroll-coached teams, this type of thing stays in-house. There was an issue, I physically broke it up, I was there, you would have to ask those guys what they were arguing about, I'm not at liberty to talk about it."

Robinson confirmed the altercation took place the day before the Seahawks beat the Broncos to win the Super Bowl.

"We kind of talked about it afterwards," he said. "I talked to Percy and Golden and they ironed their situation out. But again, you've been in locker rooms, these type of things happen all the time. Families fight. That is what is so disturbing. Again, this type of information usually doesn't get out of that locker room. Why it comes out now, almost a year after the Super Bowl is mind-boggling."

We'd surmise it came out because neither player is on the team anymore. It also in part explains why the Seahawks were so eager to jettison a player they gave up multiple draft picks for and gave a big contract to, but got back merely a conditional sixth-rounder for in the trade.

But the Golden Tate situation isn't the only one to come out of Seattle. Wide receiver Doug Baldwin also acknowledged an altercation involving Harvin and himself, per NFL Media's Steve Wyche. When asked if such incidents could have eventually been smoothed over and the team could have continued with Harvin, Baldwin said it was Carroll's and management's decision to trade Harvin.
