Brandon Browner receives pay raise from Seattle Seahawks

Brandon Browner's play hasn't gone unnoticed by the Seattle Seahawks.

The Seahawks gave the cornerback a $218,756 pay raise this week, a source who has seen the contract said Friday.

Browner still has one year left on his contract with an unchanged base salary of $555,000, but the Seahawks added a $125,000 signing bonus and a $93,756 roster bonus. His salary-cap number and total value now is $773,756.

Browner, who has started 28 games for the Seahawks over the past two seasons, called the raise "a good gesture."

"You already make more than the average guy, so I'm happy and satisfied, man," Browner told USA Today. "I was up there in Canada making 50 grand."

Before signing with the Seahawks in 2011, Browner spent four years in the Canadian Football League. He made the Pro Bowl in 2011, but he received a four-game suspension in 2012 for violating the NFL's policy on performance-enhancing substances. 

It could be a busy offseason for the Seahawks, as they might have looming contract extensions for cornerback Richard Sherman and safety Earl Thomas.
