When Around The League's Chris Wesseling featured Golden Tate in our Making the Leap series, he suggested that the Seattle Seahawks wideout would make sense as a trade target for the receiver-needy Baltimore Ravens.
With Tate entering the final year of his contract, his future is unknown, but he doesn't sound hip to Wesseling's musings.
"I'm going to show up to work, work hard (and) not worry about any contract talk," Tate told "The SiriusXM Blitz" on Thursday. "I'm just going to pray on it and hopefully it works out. Hopefully I'm in Seattle for a long time. I really enjoy this place. ... I want to help this team out as much as I can right now. ... I'm excited for this city and its organization."
Tate has a point. The Seahawks arguably house the NFL's strongest roster, with enough young talent to hint at long-term success.
"I think we have a chance to be really, really special, and special for a long time," Tate said. "If we can just stay healthy and not let (it) go to our heads ... I'm sure coach (Pete) Carroll will not let that happen. ... I think the last few years, teams kind of thought, 'Seattle, we're going to walk all over them,' but not anymore."
Tate sounds like a man who's found his happy place. At least for one more season.
